Insulation Grants for People Receiving Benefits
Grants to cover the full cost of Loft, Cavity Wall, Internal Wall and Room in Roof Insulation are available to private householders in receipt of certain income-related benefits.
Anyone living in a property constructed from solid walls can also claim an External Wall Insulation grant to cover up to 25% of the cost.
Installing Loft Insulation can save you up to £150 on your heating bills each year. As long as you have under 100mm/4” of insulation already in your loft, you should qualify to have it topped up to 11” completely free of charge. Learn more about Loft Insulation.
Room in Roof Insulation can also save up to £150 per year on bills. As long as there is a fixed staircase to the rooms and limited insulation in place, you should be entitled to a grant. See our Room in Roof Insulation page for details.
Insulating your Cavity Walls could bring annual heating bill savings of up to £145. The property must be built of brick between 1924 and 1982. Read more about Cavity Wall Insulation.
Fitting Internal or External Wall Insulation can prevent up to 45% of the heat in your home from escaping and save you up to £270 per year on heating costs. See our Internal Wall Insulation and External Wall Insulation pages for more details.

How To Apply
The first step is to complete our online Application Form and at step 3, choose one benefit received by someone living in the property.
If you qualify for a grant, your details will be sent to a local trusted, accredited and approved Surveyor/Installer who will telephone you to book a survey. The Surveyor will double-check that you are entitled to a free grant. They will also check that your property is suitable to have Insulation installed.
If you are happy to proceed after the survey, the Installer will arrange dates and times to install the products. They will then claim back the grant from an Energy Supplier or an agent acting on their behalf.
Should you have Cavity Insulation fitted, our approved Installer will also apply for the 25-year cavity guarantee through CIGA (Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency). This will then be sent directly to you.
If our form indicates that you do not qualify, EnergyLink can still arrange a survey and quotation from an approved local installer.
