Free Insulation Grants for People Over 60
If you’re aged 60 or over, you may qualify for government-funded home insulation grants designed to improve energy efficiency, reduce heat loss, and lower heating bills. These grants are part of the UK government’s ongoing efforts to combat fuel poverty and support households in creating warmer, more sustainable homes.
In 2025, the primary schemes offering these grants are:
-
Energy Company Obligation (ECO4): A whole-house approach to energy efficiency.
-
Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS): Focused on single insulation upgrades.
-
Warm Homes Local Grant: A new initiative providing fully funded energy-saving measures through local authorities.
Our team works with accredited, government-approved installers to help eligible households access these grants with no upfront costs or delays.
Do You Qualify for Free Insulation as an Over-60?
You may be eligible for free or subsidised insulation if the following apply:

You are aged 60 or older (though age alone does not guarantee eligibility).
-
You own your home or privately rent (social housing tenants may qualify under specific conditions).
-
Your home has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D, E, F, or G.
-
You have little or no existing insulation (e.g., less than 100mm in your loft).
-
You receive a qualifying benefit, such as:
-
Pension Credit (Guarantee or Savings)
-
Universal Credit
-
Income Support
-
Housing Benefit
-
Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
-
Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
-
Other income-based benefits
-
Alternatively, you may qualify under the Warm Homes Local Grant if your household income is below £36,000 per year or if you live in a postcode ranked within Income Deciles 1–2 of the Indices of Multiple Deprivation. Flexible criteria also apply for households with health conditions affected by cold homes or those receiving free school meals.
Even if you’re unsure about your eligibility, we can arrange a free, no-obligation home survey to assess your insulation levels and grant options.

How to Apply
The first step is to complete our online form. This will tell you which grant you should qualify for. If you are entitled to a grant, your details will be allocated to an approved local Installer who will telephone you to arrange a free, no-obligation survey.
If the survey shows that your property is suitable for home insulation, the surveyor will check your entitlement to a grant. If you are happy to go ahead, the installer will arrange the work and then claim the grant on your behalf.
